SAC Annual General Meeting

Date: September 25, 2018  

Meeting began at 7:00 PM  

Opening –Brent Foster read from Matthew 25:14-30 (parable of the talents). “I was afraid and hid the gold.” We must overcome the tendency to hold the status quo, to overcome the fear to invest our treasure in Making Jesus Famous.

Jeff opened with prayer  

Call to Order (Jeff DeHaan, chair)
46 active members present  

Approval of Agenda
MSC to approve the agenda as amended.  

Approval of Tellers
MSC to approve Paul Kallaghan and Michelle Turnbull as tellers.  

Approval of Membership List
MSC to approve the membership list as circulated.  

Approval of Previous Minutes
September 18, 2017 Annual Meeting Minutes – MSC  

Reports:
Chair turned over to Harvey Jaehn for the duration of the Board of Elders’ Report

  • Board of Elders by Jeff DeHaan
    Chair returned to Jeff DeHaan.
  • Lead Pastor Report by Brent Foster.
  • Youth and Young Adults Pastor by Josh Ginn.
  • Director of Children’s Ministry by Kelly Kozak.
  • King’s Kids Preschool by Sara Kugler.
  • Director of Connections & Care by Arda DeHaan
  • Worship Ministry presented by Monique Yushchyshyn.
  • Missions Committee by Mike Wasylynchuk.
  • Small Group Committee by Annamae Ruth.
  • Grace in Motion Committee by Darrell Dalby.
  • Finance Team by Kelly Froese.

MSC to accept the reports as circulated/presented.  

2017/2018 Financial Statement presented by Kelly Froese

  • Deficit of $15k for 2017/2018.
  • Major maintenance expenses in this year: new roof, new steps
  • Mortgage outstanding as of June 30, 2018 is $510,771.

MSC to accept the Financial Statements as submitted.  

2018/2019 Budget presented by Kelly Froese

  • 9.6% increase over last year – submitted a budget of $575,898.

MSC to accept the 2018/2019 budget as submitted.  

Report of the Nominating Committee by Brent Foster

  • Nominates Steve Heinen and Adrian Mulligan to a 3 year term as elder. The report is taken as information.  

Election of Elder
Vote for Steve Heinen and Adrian Mulligan taken by secret ballot. Steve Heinen and Adrian Mulligan were elected with over 60% support of the ballots cast.
MSC to destroy the ballots.  

Election to 2019 Nominating Committee

  • Dawne Kallaghan and Michelle Dion were nominated to the Nominating Committee from the floor.
    MSC to close nominations.
  • Willis Kozak was nominated as a spare to the Nominating Committee from the floor.
    MSC to close nominations.

MSC to declare the nominees elected.  

Jeff adjourned the meeting at 8:10 PM  

Brent Foster closed in prayer.  

The meeting was dismissed to the back of the sanctuary for refreshments and a fellowship time.
